Descartes Isle is a large island located in the Pelican Archipelago. There are two known routes from the island: Cook Island and an inter-archipelago route to Kashgar Island in the Tern Archipelago.

History[]
Descartes Isle is named for French mathematician René Descartes.
On a stone to the east of the market reads, "This island were fashioned by Mnemosyne".
The Descartes Isle navy was initially named "Somerset Navy" rather than "Descartes Navy". The name was changed in the first few days of the ocean.
Along with Lincoln Island, Greenwich Island, and Wensleydale, Descartes was one of the original four colonized Sage islands.
When Sage originally opened, there was no direct route from Descartes Isle to Kashgar Island (the route was from Cook instead). This was changed around March 7, 2006.
Descartes was transferred from Narya to Death's Banner on September 15, 2006 in preparation for the "Who wants to be Hades' Governor?" event.Template:Fn
